C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 2 is a member of the class A rhodopsin-like G protein-coupled receptor family encoded by the CXCR2 gene. It is a seven-transmembrane cell surface receptor that binds ELR-positive CXC chemokines including CXCL1, CXCL2, CXCL3, CXCL5, CXCL6, and CXCL8, primarily signaling through Gi proteins to regulate calcium mobilization, integrin activation, and chemotactic migration. CXCR2 is highly expressed on neutrophils and is also detected on monocytes, endothelial cells, and other cell types, where it mediates leukocyte recruitment and inflammatory responses. Receptor activation is controlled through phosphorylation-dependent desensitization and internalization.
