CD19 is a B-lymphocyte surface glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded by the CD19 gene. It is a single-pass type I transmembrane protein with two extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and a cytoplasmic tail containing signaling motifs that recruit intracellular adaptors. CD19 is expressed throughout most stages of B-cell development and functions as a coreceptor that amplifies signaling through the B-cell receptor complex, contributing to B-cell activation, proliferation, and differentiation. Expression is largely restricted to normal and malignant B-lineage cells.
