C-C motif chemokine receptor 6 is a member of the class A rhodopsin-like G protein-coupled receptor family encoded by the CCR6 gene. It is a seven-transmembrane cell surface receptor that binds the chemokine CCL20 and primarily signals through Gi proteins to regulate intracellular calcium mobilization, actin reorganization, and chemotactic migration. CCR6 is expressed on subsets of memory T cells, B cells, dendritic cells, and other leukocytes, where it contributes to trafficking to epithelial tissues and secondary lymphoid organs. The receptor is associated with immune surveillance and organization of mucosal and inflammatory responses.
