Tetraspanin-13 (TSPAN13) is a member of the tetraspanin family, a group of small transmembrane proteins characterized by four transmembrane domains and two extracellular loops. TSPAN13 is expressed in various tissues, with enrichment in the central nervous system and some epithelial tissues. It is thought to participate in the organization of membrane microdomains and may modulate signaling by interacting with partner proteins at the cell surface. The precise biological role of TSPAN13 remains unclear due to limited functional characterization.
