SLC3A2 is a single-pass transmembrane protein that is part of the solute carrier family. SLC3A2 forms a homodimer as well as heterodimers with several other proteins, including SLC7A6, SLC7A7, SLC7A5, and SLC7A8. The homodimer and heterodimers are amino acid transporters with differing substrates. SLC3A2 also regulates intracellular Ca2+ levels. The heterodimer with SLC7A5 facilitates viral entry of hepatitis C.
