IL3RA is a single-pass transmembrane protein and the alpha subunit of a heterodimeric cytokine receptor. IL3RA binds interleukin 3, which activates the signal transducing beta subunit, activating the pathway responsible for regulating concentrations of various blood cell types. The beta subunit is shared with receptors for colony stimulating factor 2 and interleukin 5.
