Cadherin-17 is a non-classical member of the cadherin superfamily involved in calcium-dependent cell adhesion. It features seven extracellular cadherin domains and a single-pass transmembrane segment but lacks the conserved cytoplasmic domain required for catenin binding, distinguishing it from classical cadherins. CDH17 is mainly expressed in the gastrointestinal tract, where it facilitates homophilic cell-cell adhesion and contributes to epithelial cohesion. It does not have a confirmed role in intracellular signaling pathways.
