The specificity of TSPAN18 Monoclonal Antibody (CSB0160) was tested on the Membrane Proteome Array® and shown to be specific for human TSPAN18. The Membrane Proteome Array® contains 6,000 different human membrane proteins, each expressed in unfixed avian cells to ensure native conformation and post-translational modifications. The Membrane Proteome Array® represents the industry standard for determining the binding specificity of antibodies and other protein ligands. |

TSPAN18 is a member of the tetraspanin protein family, defined by four transmembrane domains and a conserved structural topology involved in organizing membrane microdomains. It localizes primarily to the plasma membrane and is expressed in several tissues, with notable levels in brain and endothelial cells. The precise biological function of TSPAN18 has not been conclusively determined. Experimental data support its general role as a membrane component, but no specific signaling or trafficking roles have been confirmed. (NCBI Gene: 90139, UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot: Q96SJ8) Other names: Tetraspanin 18, TSPAN, Tetraspanin-18, Tspan-18
